“You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.”
—Robin Williams
Before I knew how to read and write, I was drawing up storybooks and presenting family members with them as gifts. I could acknowledge the value of storytelling, and realized how special it was to be able to present stories visually through the work of my own hands. I will bring with me this childlike sense of wonder throughout my career.

In one of my first graphic design classes at SJSU,
I remember the professor asked each of us to define graphic design in our own terms.
I was a little unsure. He told us “Design is Everything”. I couldn’t understand this then, but I see it now. Everywhere I go, everything I see, it all comes back to design. The BFA program not only pushed me out of my comfort zone in an educational sense,
but continued to push further. It’s taught me to persevere, that creativity has no bounds, and most importantly how inspiring it is to surround yourself with people who are filled with passion.
